And BINGO Was Their Name-O

You know you're old when you get done eating pizza for dinner you push the plate away and you reach over for the $2.00 "Bingo" game sitting next to you and start playing a game (or 2) with your husband and you both actually enjoy it.
Yes..............That is us.

Weekend Update with Terese Ulrich

What a wonderful weekend I had! I seem to love it more when I am busy doing something then when I'm just sitting on my ass doing nothing! So what did I do this weekend you might ask? I had a blast scrapping, eating, drinking and more scrapping with some new friends! We started at Archivers (By the way is hiring for a new assistant manager that I DID NOT know about! Grrrrr!) then out to a new Mexican restaurant for some eating and Strawberry Margaritas! (Mmmmm! My favorite I might add!) and then moved on to a new scrapping place that we never scrapped at before called "Robin's Nest". Lorrie and I have shopped there once before and thought it was so cute. It's a 70 year old house made into a scrap/gift store. So so cute with lot's of goodies to look at! (I just love the look of an old old staircase and an old wooden very used handrail for some reason! Always warms my heart!) Had a blast but we petered out sooner then we anticipated! Not only from us just being tired but Maria's started having a asma attack because the stores cat Lucky decide to stop by us to say hello and Maria is allergic to cats so she made a quick exit! Lorrie and I also got an invitation to go to Fort Lauderdale for a few days of scrap booking with her since she has a place down there. We were going to go and also take some different classes at a scrapping place across the street from here but it turned out that I could not really afford to go right now. Not with the position I'm in with not having a job. We will go at a later time though......definitely will!

Also Friday while cropping at Archiver's we took a break and walked to the mall close by to grab a bite to eat and ran into a old friend of mine's husband. We talked briefly until I asked about his wife Sheryl and how she was doing since we haven't talked for a while. He told me that she up and walked out on him, their daughter and three grandchildren. I asked if she left him for someone else and he said yes. I asked if he knew who he was and he told me that yes, he does know who she was. SHE???? OMG! She left him for a woman. Who would have known! (Insert smirk here.) Everyone I knew that knew her guessed that but me. All that time that we hung around together.............................

Also in the news........my ex's sister's daughter Nicki had her baby. It was a boy and she named him Iziah! OMG what a cutie he is and all that dark hair he has..........can we say ADORABLE! So now I have to add a "Baby Boy" card to my list of cards to make! Maybe a mini chipboard album to go along with it I'm thinking? Congratulations Nicki! You are going to be such a wonderful mommy!

The rest of the weekend? Well, Nicki, Scott and I went out to dinner at the Chinese buffet (which I LOVE!) and then came home, built a fire and then scrapped a little bit. Who would have ever thought she would end up scrapping like her mom, sister and aunt? I did. I knew eventually she would join the cult! Too much fun to resist! I have to say I am so pleased with her work! You would never guess that by looking at her first layout that that was he very first layout! I am not exaggerating either! She was born to do this! Okay so that is an exaggerating but you get the idea! I'm just SO happy! Her supplies has even grown enough now that she needs more storage for it all! I know what I'm getting her for her birthday in July! he-he-he!

So who like crab legs? Lowe's Foods had some on sale for $2.99 lb. and so off Scott and I went to get some. Not that Scott likes them, he doesn't. I just made him come along with me for the ride. Also found some Moscato wine while we were there. That is my new favorite afternoon beverage! LOL! So dinner yesterday was soooooo yummy! Crab Legs and Shrimp Scampi=1 happy girl! I'm thinking I may just go and get some more before the sale ends in 2 days.

Golden Globes last night. I LOVE watching all the stars and see what everyone is wearing. I think the dress I loved the most was the one that Penelope Cruise was wearing. She. Looked. STUNNING! Beautiful beautiful dress! My second favorite was the one that Kate Hudson was wearing. The white one. So pretty! I swear she is so stinking cute! And the speech that Meryl Streep gave brought me to tears. Absolutely beautiful and very moving. I so admire her!

Well, it's Monday and it doesn't look like I'm going to start my "Make It Monday" because I didn't get a chance to go for groceries, so I might aim for "Try It Tuesday" instead. I see now that I have to start being prepared if I'm actually going to pull this off!

Did I mention that I have my windows open? Yes! I cannot believe it turned warm all of a sudden! How awesome is that! This house really needs to be aired out after being closed up so tight over the winter. Not only from the winter but from having shrimp and crab legs. Pew!

So look what I got in the mail today that I'm so excited about!

This here gal is Ree Drummond AKA Pioneer Woman. I have been reading her blog now....oh gosh.....I don't know......a couple years at least and she finally published a cookbook! Not only is she a fantastic cook but she is also a phenomenal photographer! If you have never been to her blog before, do yourself a favor and go take a look. You will become a huge fan like everyone else that has read it! Here's the link: http://pioneerwoman.com/. Make sure you bookmark it for you will definitely want to go back for more.

One of the things I love about her is she shows color pictures of each step of her recipes she posts. It's not only like this on her blog but it's like that in her cookbook too. As for me, I like to see what I'm supposed to be doing and see how the stuff should look considering mine never looks the same as in the books themselves! Pictures help me and I need all the help I can get!

Anyways, let's get to the point. Have you ever seen the movie "Julie & Julia'? If you haven't, you should. It's good. It's Julia Child's story of her start in the cooking profession that intertwined with blogger Julie Powell's 2002 challenge to cook all the recipes in Child's first book. I have heard of people doing this long time ago before I even heard of this movie and knew who Julie Powell was and I thought it was such a cool idea! Over the years I have thought about doing such a project, but honestly, I never found a cookbook that was that interesting enough to make everything in it......until now. Ree Drummond's book is that book. Only difference is, is that I am not going to make a recipe each day and I am not going to blog about it. I may mention what I make when I make it and what we thought about it, but the purpose of doing it is just to have fun and try new recipes. So in no way am I actually copying the movie. Not really, but I have to admit it does sound like it! So when am I going to start this silly project? I was thinking next week either Monday or Tuesday and that way I can call them "Make It Monday" or "Try It Tuesday" days. Or Friday can be "Fix It Friday's". LOL! I can't think of anything else clever that works for Wednesdays or Thursdays! So, that's what I'm going to do. Sound stupid or silly? It is, but what the heck? I'm getting bored eating hot dogs and hamburger helper. We need some change and you know what they say..... "change is a good thing!"

We'll see!
