Someone sent me this and I found it to be very interesting for us Scrapbookers. If you are not a Scrapper then you will find this information totally useless and a pure waste of your valuable time so don't bother.

Did you know that an inch of pattern paper is estimated to be 100 sheets or 75 finished pages?

Did you know that one inch of cardstock is roughly 50 pages finished? How many inches do YOU have?
How many pages do you do a year?

Do you have over 12 inches (1 foot) of cardstock or printed paper? Do you realize that is enough paper for 1000 pages? Are you stockpiling for someday when you already own enough paper to do thousands of pages?

Did you know that one tin/set of 100 eyelets makes and average of 20 pages? (And how many sets of 100 do YOU own?)

Did you know that many paper packs and multi sheet slabs usually have 10-20% of their patterns that will not suit you within a pack? (one sheet in 5 may not be to your taste so don't keep it in the stash--share!)

Did you know that each sticker sheet you own will do approximately a two page layout? If you have binder full of stickers it will equal about 300 pages to use them up??

Did you know that each yard of fiber you own will make 1-2 pages? If you own a skein of knitting yarn, they contain between 100-200 yards of fiber? At that rate it will take you 100-200 pages of JUST THAT SKEIN to use up that yarn ball on layout pages? (SHARE!!)

Did you know that the average gel and writer pen ink longevity INSIDE a pen is one year before it is generally dry or unusable? (Use them up before they DRY up!)

Did you know that playing music when you scrapbook helps your creativity and productivity?

Did you know that starting with a format saves you 20 minutes PER PAGE? Did you know there are about 500 free sketches online? Watch our links for sites. If you can't find those free ones online to print and refer to, or need ideas for crop parties, get Becky Higgins Creative Sketches book and also her Creative Companion book. Becky Fleck's Page Maps are my personal favorite! Her sketches are simply awesome for versatile formats of layouts.

Did you know that shopping once a week at the scrapbook store costs most scrappers an average of $25.00 each trip? (And most of those have enough items at home already to make 1000's of pages.) $25.00 times 52 weeks a year means $ 1300 spent per year.

Did you know that sticker letters cost an average of $3-$5 dollars a sheet now? Buy black so that later you can mix and match later your partial sheets for 'mixed font' titles. It will save you at least a dollar a sheet to BUY BLACK! Why? Because you will eventually get more many titles per sheet that way!

Did you know that one ABC sticker sheet usually makes only two titles before it is cast off by most scrapbookers? Over half the stickers are then wasting away in binders or storage and clogging up precious storage space--never to be used again.

Did you know that people will pay $1 each for two punched flowers and a brad or pop dot? (Think Jolees, K and Co, and Paper Bliss) Do it yourself for a fraction of that. It takes only pennies to make a stacked flower from your scraps and chalk the outside petals..... I know you have scraps and brads, eyelets or pop dots!

Did you know that stamping your own twill ribbon with phrases saves you $2.00 a yard? How many premade ribbon yards do you have that you need to use up? Wording ribbon usually works out to 1 foot per page. If you have a stockpile of 20 yards of worded ribbons of all kinds, that means you better get cracking and make 60 pages before you buy more!!

Happy Birthday Mom

My mom didn't raise me to ask God for blessings or benefits. For guidance, yes.
For the strength to do the right thing, yes.
Not for a winning lottery number, not for love or health, or happiness. Prayer is not a gimme list: God isn't Santa Claus.

As she has taught me, I believe that without asking, we are given all we need.
We must have the wit and wisdom to recognize the strengths and tools at our command, and find the courage to do what must be done.

Her indomitable spirit, her courage through those exhausting months of illness, pain, and decline, had been an inspiration to me.
But I wanted more than inspiration. I wanted her- healed, healthy, full of life once more.

My mother.

My Friend.

Happy Birthday Mom.

I miss you more and more with each passing day.

I Love You.

Terry

Holy Quacamole!

I can't believe it's beent his long since I posted!

Should I even bother anymore?

Wonderful Man-Wonderful Weekend!

Lately things have been building up here for me. With the loss of a dear friend of ours, 3 deaths at work, 2 neighbors getting killed in tragic car accidents, me not getting the new job that I have been praying for, the pressure of having a new roommate living with us, my daughter and sister pissing me off and the pressure from working my ass off at work, the load on my shoulders has been quite heavy. I took a Saturdayoff so that Scott, me and the dogs can get away and go for a long fishing trip to the coast but it turns out that that was father's day weekend so our plans never panned out. Yes, fathers day at the in-laws was nice grant you, but what I needed was a change of scenery. So instead of actually taking that Saturday off, I went in to work. No use in wasting a day off if I'm not going to do nothing now is there? Well, Scott felt so bad that we didn't go like we originally had planned so he made it up to me in other ways. I took the following Saturday off and we spent the whole weekend together doing stuff that we've never done before. It was awesome!

Friday night we went to our very first Durham Bulls game! I thought it was going to be too hot to be sitting out in the sun with all them people there but it turned out to be one of the most beautiful evenings that week! There was an amazing breeze blowing and we were there for maybe only an hour before the sun started setting so we didn't have to be out there baking in it. As for the seating? We couldn't have asked for better seats then where we were. We were either four or five seats up right behind home plate! Now I have been to many Brewers games and I always liked the sidelines, like right along first and third bases, but these were perfect! To give you an idea of what it was like, here's a picture. see? Perfect!

Afterwards they had their usual firework display. How fun is that!

That Friday evening Scott told be I better get a good nights slepe because int he morning we were heading out for Lewisville to go to this stamp and scrapbooking store that I've been wanting to go to for a long time! What??? He's going to take me there? I couldn't believe my ears!

We got up early Saturday morning and headed on out there! But not before we stopped for breakfast at one of my favorite places......Craker Barrel! It was about a 3 hour drive and all we did was talk all the way there. No stereo playing nothing. Just good conversation between the two of us.

After finally getting there I must say that I was a bit disappointed. From what I heard, it was supposed to be the largest store in North Carolina. Well, what I think they meant to say was it was a store with the largest "selection of stamps". Grant you, they had a lot of stamps that I haven't seen anywhere else but they didn't have all that much scrapbooking stuff. BUT, the scrapbooking stuff that they DID have was different then what I have seen in the local scrapbook stores here so I guess I can say that yeah....it was worth the trip! I ended up buying some stuff that I've been wanting for awhile but never splurged and bought myself. I also was looking for 2 stamps in particular and would you belive out of all thos 1,000's of stamps I couldn't find neither one! Oh well. That was a few more extra dollars I saved! So now for the next few weeks we'll have to go back to eating hot dogs for dinner until I can replemish my checking account! Oh and Scott was such a dear too......he sat outside on the front porch just a rocking on the rocking chair and everytime I stuck my head out the door to see if he was ok he'd tell me to go ahead and take my time that we didn't come all the way out here for nothing! Now how sweet is that? On the way home we stopped at another store and I got a head start on some Christmas shopping! Now I can't say where we stopped and what I bought because my dear friend reads this blog and she'll know right away what it is I bought so I can't go there right now. But I will say this much....she is going to L O V E me!! :)

Anyway....The next day I had big plans to spend the day in my room working on some projects that I've been meaning to work on but couldn't seeing as I didn't get what I was looking for at The Enchanted Cottage. I held my head up and took a deep breath and decided to test the waters by asking Scott how much he loved me and if he wasn't busy that afternoon if he wanted to make me as happy as he did the previous day by taking me out to Durham to Carolina Memories, another awesome scrapbooking store. He sighed, looked at me and told me he loved me with all his heart and in the same breath said that yes he would take me out there if I wanted him to! I about died! As much as he hates and I mean HATES shopping, he took me out there and check this out.......he even SHOPPED with me-showing me all the pretty papers and cute embellies and everything! I tell you it was so cute! I don't believe I've ever loved that man more then I did at that moment right there in the store! We had so much fun! I finally found what I was looking for (a stamp for my ATC's and my Poppets clothing and word bubbles) and headed home, all the way jamming out to Pink Floyd. Once there Scott sent me to my room to play and told me that he wants me to finally get some work done. I was a good girl and did as I was told and needless to say I got a lot done! Had a blast too playing with all my new stuff!

The weekend was fantastic and we enjoyed each other so much! Now when I trip over his shoes laying in the middle of the floor or have to put down the toilet seat lid AGAIN, all I will do is sigh, look at him and tell him I love him with all my heart and how lucky I am to have him!

A Sad Day For Fans

Today is a sad day for all us "Pink Floyd" fans.

Even though Syd Barrett has not been with the group since 1968 we can't help but to somehow still love the man since he is the creator of the most awesome band ever!

Rest in Peace Syd.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LONDON (July 11) - Syd Barrett, the troubled Pink Floyd co-founder who spent his last years in reclusive anonymity, has died, the band said Tuesday. He was 60.

A spokeswoman for the band said Barrett died several days ago, but she did not disclose the cause of death. Barrett had suffered from diabetes for years.
The surviving members the legendary band - David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright - said they were "very upset and sad to learn of Syd Barrett's death."
"Syd was the guiding light of the early band lineup and leaves a legacy which continues to inspire," they said in a statement.
Barrett co-founded Floyd in 1965 with Waters, Mason and Wright, and wrote many of the band's early songs. The group's jazz-infused rock and drug-laced, multimedia "happenings" made them darlings of the London psychedelic scene.

But Barrett suffered from mental instability, exacerbated by his use of LSD. His behavior grew increasingly erratic, and he left the group in 1968 - five years before the release of the band's most popular album, "Dark Side of the Moon" - to be replaced by Gilmour.
Barrett released two solo albums - "The Madcap Laughs" and "Barrett" - but soon withdrew from the music business altogether. An album of previously unreleased material, "Opel," was issued in 1988.
He reverted to his real name, Roger Barrett, and spent much of the rest of his life living quietly in his hometown of Cambridge, England. Moving into his mother's suburban house, he passed the time painting and tending the garden. His former bandmates made sure Barrett continued to receive royalties from his work with Floyd.
He was a familiar figure to neighbors, often seen cycling or walking to the corner store, but rarely spoke to the fans and journalists who sought him out over the years.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Lyrics to Pink Floyd's 'Shine On, You Crazy Diamond,' which was written about Syd Barrett and appeared on 1975's 'Wish You Were Here'

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the steel breeze.

Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger,
you legend, you martyr, and shine!

You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision, rode on the steel breeze.

Come on you raver, you seer of visions, come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Pile on many more layers and I'll be joining you there.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
And we'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph, and sail on the steel breeze.

Come on you boy child, you winner and loser, come on you miner for truth and delusion, and shine!

Two Arab Mothers

Here's a little something my mother-in-law sent me just today. I just have to share this one!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two Arab mothers are sitting in the cafe chatting over a pint of goat's milk.

The older of the mothers pulls her bag out and starts flipping through pictures, and they start reminiscing.

"This is my oldest son, Mohammed.
He's 24 years old now.
"Yes, I remember him as a baby, " says the other mother cheerfully.
"He's a martyr now though," mum confides.
"Oh, so sad dear," says the other.

"And this is my second son, Kalid.
He's 21.
"Oh, I remember him," says the other happily. "He had such curly hair when he was born.
"He's a martyr too," says mum quietly.
"Oh gracious me ..." says the other.

"And this is my third son. My baby. My beautiful Ahmed.
He's 18," she whispers.
"Yes," says the friend enthusiastically, "I remember when he first started school".
"He's a martyr also," says mum, with tears in her eyes.

After a pause and a deep sigh, the second Muslim mother looks wistfully at the photographs and says...."They blow up so fast, don't they?"

Happy Fathers Day Daddy.....

To my dad who has been gone now for 17 years already I want to say Happy Fathers Day and that I miss you. We may have not had the kind of relationship that many daughters and their daddys' had, but we did have a good one nonetheless. Yeah, there were a lot of rough times there as I was growing up and I have been subjected to many things that a little girl my age shouldn't have been subjected to. Life was rough sometimes, but I have to admit that there were also some good times there too. Like when you would take me for walks down Lincoln Avenue to go to Kosciuszko Park. We would stop on the way and you would buy me ice cream. We would go there on fourth of July and you would sit with me and watch the fireworks. Just you and me is all I remember. I don't know if any of my brothers or sisters went with us or not. All I remember is you and me.
And I remember how you would let me sit on your lap on the little wooden bench downstairs in the basement and let me burn trash with you in our wood burning stove. I was amazed that you could stick your whole hand in that hot stove with those flames burning so bright and not burn your hands. You taught me that the yellow and white flames were not hot at all. It was the ones closer to the base of the fire that burned. I used to love burning the Styrofoam egg cartons and watching them instantly melt. You would save them and put them aside for me for when I would be there with you. That was sweet and it made me feel like I was somehow special to you. You would give me the big long metal "poking stick" and let me push the stuff farther into the fire. We would literally sit there for hours and watch the fire burn and talk.
I also remember hanging out in "your room" downstairs in the basement. That's where you used to go to get away from mom. You had shelves on the wall way up high with all these old cigar boxes with all these little trinkets in them. I used to love going through all these boxes and looking at the old pocket watches, old spoons, little pocket books and bibles and photographs. You would tell me stories of where all these things came from. There was one particular box that I wanted and you gave it to me. It was a wooden one with a hinge on it. I still have it to this day along with the old cigar boxes you let me have. I even have the original stuff that was inside these boxes so when I want to take a trip down memory lane all I have to do is go in my hope chest and pull any one of these boxes out and I am back to being a little girl at 4 years old again.
You never really showed us kids much love, but we still knew you loved us. At least I did. Mom says it's because that's how you were brought up. For whatever reason you were the way you were, I forgive you. I know now that alcoholism is a disease and that you suffered from this disease. I didn't understand it at the time when I was a child but I do now as an adult. I just want you to know that I am now at peace with the past. I will always keep those good memories close to my heart and I will always cherish them. I really do miss you daddy and I want you to know that I am thinking of you on this Father's Day.

Woman Over 40

Yup! That's me and proud of it!
I read this somewhere and thought, now ain't THIS the truth! So here I have to share it with you. Even if you're not over 40 yet feel free to read this anyway. Life doesn't get worse with age......it only gets better!

I always said something happens to a woman once she's 40.. Here is a piece written by Andy Rooney - CBS 60 Minutes.

As I grow in age, I value women who are over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why.

A woman over 40 will not lay next to you in bed and ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think.

If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it's usually something more interesting.

A woman over 40 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of 40 give a damn what you might think about her or what she's doing.

Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated.

A woman over 40 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women. Women over 40 couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won't betray her.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40. They already know.

A woman over 40 looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women or drag queens.
Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk or if you are acting like one! You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons.

Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot womanof 40+, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 18-year-old waitress. Ladies, I apologize. For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free." Here's an update for you. Nowadays, 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire Pig, just to get a little sausage.

What Makes A Man Sexy

Maybe it's just me but there is something irresistable about a man who lights up around babies. Even if you're not a "baby person", there's just something about a man with a mostly hidden soft side that peeks out every now & then.
Also, a man that has love and compasion for animals. This is a real "turn-on" for me. And to think that I was blessed with a man of this nature. How lucky am I? Very!

man + animal = heart going pitty-pat

Also very sexy? Is the man who has no idea he is...

Sometimes you meet a person who really makes you appreciate little things about the people already in your life--little things you knew were there but now have renewed gratefulness for once you've seen someone who lacks these particular characteristics. Not that you ever took these great qualities for granted, more like you realize now just how many people don't exhibit them...and should. You know what i mean?

Durham Scrap and Stamp Expo

This past weekend, my sister Lorrie and I drove up to Durham, NC to attend the Scrapbook and Stamp Expo that was held there. There are classes offered, but neither Lorrie nor I was interested in partaking in any of them. (What? Do we consider ourselves experts in all they had to offer so much as we felt we didn't need to take any classes? No. We just were too cheap and wanted more money in our pockets for us to shop with!) We were both rather psyched as we just knew that there was going to be lots of the latest and greatest available. I, myself, have done next to no scrapbook shopping since Christmas. (Except for one whirlwind day a couple weeks ago when Lorrie and I went to Target and found so many goodies that were on clearance!) Because of this, I felt that I could splurge a bit and buy a lot of the things that I've only been able to drool over online and in the magazines. Scrapbooking is an interesting thing. I have tons and tons (and tons) of supplies, but I always want more. I can never have enough. I think the shopping and collecting is a very important part of the hobby, at least for me. Being a hoarder, and obsessor and a collector, it appeals to all those parts of me. I also (although you wouldn't believe it looking at my cluttered home) really love to organize things, so putting things away and then taking them out and changing them around and then reorganizing again is something else that I enjoy about it. The great thing about being at a convention like that is that everyone else around you is just as obsessed as you are. Like Lorrie and I both say, "We're among our own kind." I particularly love paper (and ribbon) and am drawn to the brights as well as the distressed look that's super popular right now. Another "in" thing is the "altered" art and today I got well stocked up in all the latest goodies in that category. I stayed away from the more "premade" type of accents and my big purchases today were all mostly stamp sets and watercolor crayons. (Which I seen and just HAD to have! Now to see if I will only USE them!) I got a couple Heidi Swapp Masks that are real big right now and some awesome ribbon, which are another of my weaknesses and a few other little doo dads. I got myself some little rag dolls that I am going to make for my scraproom. They are going to be my scrapping friends and I am going to make them in the like of Lorrie, Holly, Janet and myself. (But that's a different story so don't ask about it right now!) (Stop laughing Lorrie!) Alot of the booths there offered some huge dollar bins and Lorrie and I greedily loaded ourselves up with these. "These were originally FIVE dollars!" I said to myself gleefully, some epoxy Sharon Soneff alphabets in my hand. This area was also the most congested of areas, and though most people were fine, I did get in a slight confrontation with one woman who felt that our line was the "wrong" one and that I was cutting in front of her. "I feel like I'm in ACMoore she said snottily to her friend and further remarked, "Some people." Some people, what? Some people would like to smack you in the face? And what was the whole ACMoore thing about? Does she often get into confrontations with people over the bargain bra bins? I had a few small disappointments. Not much Heidi Swapp stuff. No new Making Memories foam alphabet stamps. They DID have some really cool Chalks there that we went crazy over, but the price seemed high, and Lorrie and I DO have our limits. Lorrie wanted to get the Chalks, but didn't want to spend all that money for them. I wanted some new Basic Grey paper but they didn't have any. We shed some tears. Now the fun begins of putting my new stuff away! I sense some reorganization in my future!

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes!

Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to an emergency call.
Once there, the house was very, very dark and so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a 3-year-old girl, to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby.
Very diligently Kathleen did as she was asked.
Her mother Heidi pushed and pushed, and after a little while Connor was born.
The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom.
Connor began to cry.
The paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-year-old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.
Kathleen quickly responded, "He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place. Smack his butt again!."

Everyone Else Is Doing It!

First I saw it on Nicholes blog and then I saw it on someone elses blog so I figured I'd follow along. And no Mom, if they all jumped off a cliff I would not jump too! LOL

1. When was the last time you went to the bathroom outside? Probably about 4 or 5 years ago. I was coming home from a night at the LongBranch and the alchohol just wouldn't stay inside me for another 10 more minutes until I got home so I had to pull over in a nearby neighborhood and relieve myself. Ewww I hate doing that but I just couldn't hold it no more!

2. When was the last time you saw one of your parents? In 2000.

3. Which family member do you most resemble? My mom so I am told. My daughter and I both look incredibly alike.

4. Do you wear cologne/perfume? Definatly. Smelling "sooooo good!" is my "Trademark" at work!

5. Do you wear deodorant? uhh.......yeah. Duh!

6. Do you ‘clean up nice’? Always!

7. When was the last time you tripped and fell? Oh this is an easy one! On March 4th. I fell at work. I didn't trip though. I was at work and I stepped down onto a turntable and it turned on me and took my feet right out from underneath me. I had a bruise from HELL!

8. Where was the last place you slept besides your home? By my son and daughters home in Milwaukee. I was there visiting them over Christmas.

9. What are you listening to right now? Paul Harvey "The Rest Of The Story" on the computer radiop as I type. (I love some Paul Harvey!)

10. Have you ever started an uncontrollable fire? Nope.

11. Ever run out of gas on the road? Fortunatly I never had.

12. Would you rather cut the grass or rake the leaves? Cut the grass --and that's only because of our riding lawn mower. I hate raking leaves-I always get blisters!

13. Your name spelled backwards. Eseret. Not pretty, huh?

My Private Part Died Today

An old man, Mr. Goldstein, was living the last of his life in a nursing home. One day he appeared to be very sad and depressed. Nurse Tracy asked if there was anything wrong.
"Yes, Nurse Tracy," said Mr. Goldstein, "My private part died today, and I am very sad.
" Knowing her patients were forgetful and sometimes a little crazy, she replied, "Oh, I'm so sorry, Mr. Goldstein, please accept my condolences." The following day, Mr. Goldstein was walking down the hall with his private part hanging out of his pajamas, when he met Nurse Tracy.
"Mr. Goldstein," she said, "You shouldn't be walking down the hall like that. Please put your private part back inside your pajamas."
"But, Nurse Tracy," replied Mr. Goldstein, "I told you yesterday that my private part died."
"Yes, you did tell me that, but why is it hanging out of your pajamas?" asked Nurse Tracy.
"Well," he replied. "Today's the viewing."

Anthrax Scare At Lambeau Field

**Now I love the Green Bay Packers and hate when anyone puts them down but I read this and I couldn't help but laugh so of course I have to share it with you. Please don't pass this on to anyone. We don't want to spread rumors.**

Green Bay Packer football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field.
Coach Mike Sherman immediately suspended practice while police and federal investigators were called to investigate.
After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to the players was the goal line.
Practice was resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.

My blog has been requested!

Yeah you heard me right. Someone requested that I continue to update my blog! They actually enjoy reading it and want more of it! I know what some of you are saying...."yeah right!!" But it's true. I know I haven't updated since last year at around Thanksgiving time. Actually I was just going to give it up completely. I do write here, but I do it for myself. You know, them personal feelings and thoughts that I don't want to share with anyone and stuff. Those posts I keep hidden and don't have available to the "public". So as of today I am back in business! So now that I'm back (again) and will take a little to "warm up" I'll just post a few things that I found to be quite amusing. Give me a day or two and I will be back to my usual writing.
Thanks once more for all the comments you readers leave for me! At least I feel like I am entertaining you on some level!
